After being in business for eight years, in April, 2002, IWI purchased a building containing a former law office, which was then fully renovated and now utilizes 2,200 square feet of that building for its corporate office.  With its location alongside Route 95, it allows easy access for its clients and investigators. 

Having an established client base in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, at the start of 2003 IWI obtained its Connecticut private investigators license.  That same year, IWI solidified its affiliation with EMS Investigative located in Eustis, Florida.  Since then, a number of joint investigations have been conducted.

Recent Events

In January, 2006, Nicky Fernandes, President of IWI, was issued his US Coast Guard Captain's License.
Being a long-time auto fraud investigator and boat owner, IWI began marketing its ability to conduct marine investigations

In March, 2006, due to a lengthy investigation carried out by IWI, an Easton, MA man pled guilty to perjury, larcency and workers' compensation fraud and was sentenced to two years in the MA House of Correction and two years probation.

In September, 2006, due to the results of an auto fraud investigation conducted by IWI, a Hyde Park, MA man pled guilty to filing a false police report. Charges of insurance fraud and attempt to commit a crime were continued without a finding for one year. He was sentenced to six months probation.

In May, 2007, a corporate investigation carried out by IWI resulted in the indictment of four individuals on embezzlement charges in excess of $100,000.

In March, 2008, a school employee was thwarted in pursuit of $$$$ injury claim due to surveillance video captured by IWI. As a result of the documentation, which included climbing in and out of his truck repeatedly during the course of a day, as well as playing enthusiastically with his dog, and carrying bundles out of a hardware store and loading them into his truck.  He ultimately settled for $5,000 with the stipulation that he could not receive the money until after he tendered his resignation.

 

In July, 2008, a corporate investigation carried out by IWI resulted in the indictment of two seperate store workers  on numerous counts of receiving stolen goods.

In November, 2008, Nick was asked by a major insurance carrier located in Farmington, CT, to speak to their claims representatives regarding the "Investigative Process."  A Power Point presentation was done regarding the inside workings of how an investigation is conducted. Since then, IWI has conducted several more of these presentations to clients in MA & RI.

 

In November, 2009, IWI along with the VP of Operations celebrated their 15th Anniversary.

 

In July, 2010, IWI was featured in Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.

 

During the summer months of 2011, due to the succesful outcome of three of our workers compensation investigations, all three were submitted to the RI Workers Compensation Fraud Unit for follow up investigations.
